Hold on and be inspired
So many of Gods people today suffer from many kinds of sickness and diseases ranging from high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer diabeties and more. The Church is full of sicknesses and is getting worse. Why do the same sicknesses which plague the world, plague the Church? To get to the answer we go back to when we first excepted Jesus as our savior. It started with the living words which we became convicted by. Our sins were brought to the forefront, and caused us to be Godly sorrowed for past actions and behaviors. God forgave us of our sins and will never bring them up before us again. They are forgotten, thereby making us clean, a new creature, a born again believer, a new person.
2 Cor: 5:17 reads, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
When we repented of our sins, we thereby accepted all the conditions that come along with being a Christian. We received the Holy Spirit through Jesus and became Sons of God. The scripture reads,
John 1:12, " But as many as received him (Jesus), to them (repenters) gave he (us) power (Holy Spirit) to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on his name(we who have not seen him directly by sight)".
Now that we are clean, the Holy Spirit can and will enter into this clean body and set up a temple (home) inside of us. He will dwell in us. 1 Cor.3:16 read,
" Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"
Our lives must change, because the Holy Spirit is now part of us. It is in us. We must act like it is in us. We must get control over ourselves and prepare to do battle with Satan. It will be hard trying to resist Satan, but we must do it. The evidence of the Holy Spirit is not speaking in weird demonic tongues Fallaway, but "resisting the temptation of Satan.
James 4:7 say to, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
As you can see, when we're doing battle with Satan, he must run in fear of us because we now possess power to cause him to run in terror.
What power am I talking about? I'm speaking of the spirit words you heard, received, and accepted, and is now manifesting itself in you. The word must be in you because you're going to need every bit of it to withstand what Satan is planning next. He will strike and continue to strike at your weakest points. He will strike during your weakest moments, like the attack made against Jesus at his weakest moment. He knows your weakness to wordly things.
Jesus was in the wilderness fasting for 40 days. Satan figured that Jesus must be plenty hungry by now, so he directed his first attack toward his hunger. But the living word was in Jesus and he was ready for Satan, just as you and I must be ready. Jesus quoted to Satan what was written in the scriptures.
Deuteronomy 8:3, And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna (bread, a food, probably changing to each person's taste bud), which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know: that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live".
This scripture is pertaining to Israel's journey in the wilderness. God wanted them to depend on him rather than lose faith in him by mumbling and grumbling when things seem hard. We sometime do that when sickness or some other problem get hard to bare. We start to think that Jesus do not care. But, he does. He really do care about us.
Like Jesus, we must be ready to do battle with Satan by quoting scriptures also. Jesus shows us how in, Matthew: 4 and Luke 4:4. I don't mean quoting scriptures directly but keeping yourself away from sin by being conscious of your every action as related to your knowing how to walk like a child of God.
Now Satan temptation with bread was his first attempt on Jesus. He lost, and will go away for now, but, he will return as you see he did in Jesus case. And when he come for us, we'll better be ready to call forth scriptures from our heart and mind as Jesus did, or wham, bam, you're dead.
When we read Matthew and Luke, we see Satan lost his other attempts also. He lost the battle because Jesus was firmly planted in God the Father. The key to receiving from God is for us to be believers and doers planted fully in God through Jesus.
James 1:22 tell us to " be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." Guess what? Most are deceived today.
We Must Stand
Clearly understood, we know that for one to receive of God, he must be a Holy Spirited filled person living his or her life through Christ for God. This mean also that your life ststyle of partying, drinking, adultery, lying, stealing, hating, without love, backbiting, gossiping, involvement with physics, shacking (living together without being married), lusting, fornication, envy, proud, and etc. must come to an end. You can read this in Galatians 5:19-21. Being rid of the old character and attitudes closes the door on sin and open the door for Jesus to start his work in us. It also give us access to the throne of God. When you are feeling bad, sickness comes on you, family problems, worry, and more come your way, all you have to do is pray.
John 14:13 read, " And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
Here we ask for strength and understanding, that's what this scripture means. Asking for understanding so YOU can deal with your situation. Dealing with it come through knowledge of how much you know and want to know about your situation. The strength to handle you situation is what God has already gave you. God is always glorified if you carry out you life through constantly growing in knowledge, understanding and grace.
Note: This scripture is probably more for the then deciples than for us now. The deciples, at some time or another, needed special help from Jesus to prove him because many times they ran into many unbelievers. Just as Jesus, then, needed miracles to be believed as the Son of God.
Next, we must not doubt, but have faith that what we prayed or desired for, you can received. Listen to what Jesus said to his deciples,
Mark 11:23 "For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith".
Here is something I want you to know before we end. From the scripture above we can understand that we must put forth an effort to make what we want happen. Believe you can do it and go for it. Nothing comes from nothing. Praying to God want move you one step if you do not make the first. What you want is not everytime is what you get. Sometimes you get nothing. This has nothing to do with God. It's you!
Again, you must do your part in working on your problems. God has given you common sense to know that if you are sick. He give you power in your body and mind to go to the doctor. Challenging the mountain or believing you have the strength to do a certain thing is up to you. You must really want it, then go for it. Only pushing forward can remove your mountain out of the way.
Remember again, You should be smarter than Satan. If the Spirit is in you, the word will come up out of you and reveal to you that you belong to God. You will start to fight back by resisting. Don't forget to open your prayer by giving God the praise and the glory.
God didn't put us down here for him to work for us. We work for him!
